When we visited Prizren a year ago or so, in occasion of our 9th General Assembly program, Leutrim Fishekqiu, founding director of Autostrada Biennale, was among the brilliant people we had the honor of being introduced to. His passion for the projects carried out by the Autostrada Biennale team was palpable and so was his kindness in sharing with us the main sights and histories of the city of Prizren. We are delighted to have him again in our company to discuss the making and vision behind the 4th Autostrada Biennale All Images Will Disappear, One Day. Leutrim Fishekqiu is the co-founder and executive director of the Autostrada Biennale. Born in 1987 in Prishtina, his background is in visual arts, during his work he has organized various cultural events and is the author of several artworks – installations, mainly in public spaces. In recent years, he has focused on developing the Autostrada Biennale as the first international contemporary art biennale in Kosovo. As the only contemporary art institution in Prizren, Autostrada Biennale functions on two speeds: one is a physical exhibition that takes place every two years since 2017, the other is the new education, production and exhibition space called “Autostrada Hangar” in the former KFOR military base now ITP (Innovation and Training Park in Prizren). With the latter, Autostrada has extended the publicness of its platform by considering art production as a sustainable form of learning and exchange that will address the needs of the communities.
