It is an honor to welcome on IBA Stage for our upcoming event José Olympio da Veiga Pereira, President of the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo. We are particularly grateful for his participation given the timing of this event just days before the official opening of choreographies of the impossible, 35th Bienal de São Paulo which will take place on September 7 where we hope to see many of you!
José Olympio da Veiga Pereira is President of Banco J.Safra, the Safra Group Wholesale Bank in Brazil. Pereira was for 10 years President of Banco Credit Suisse in Brazil where he joined in 2004. Prior to taking office, José Olympio was head of Investment Banking. Between 2001 and 2004 he was responsible at Citigroup for Investment Banking in Brazil and Co- Head for Latin America. In 2008 José Olympio was elected by Latin Finance magazine, in its commemorative edition of 20 years, the best Investment Banker in the region in the period.
José Olympio is an art collector, focusing on modern and contemporary production in Brazil. Since 2012 he and his wife Andrea are listed in the list of the 200 largest art collectors in the world, published by ArtNews magazine.
He participates in the International Councils of the Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA) and the Tate Modern in London.In 2014, José Olympio was honored by France who awarded him the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, for his contribution to culture. He is a member of the Acquisitions Committee of the Fondation Cartier in Paris.
This IBA Stage is part of the 10th General Assembly public program and given the nature of this event we ask everyone interested in following the event to register on our Zoom link as the talk will not be streamed.
