IBA Stage: Rencontres de Bamako – African Biennial of Photography

A member of IBA Board one of our most active members, we are delighted to have with us Lassana Igo Diarra to present the 13th edition of Recontres de Bamako – African Biennial of Photography. He is the founder and Director of Galerie Médina, Bamako, Mali since 2011, he curated several exhibitions in Mali, Africa and internationally. In 2019, he was the General Delegate of the 12th edition of the Bamako Encounters, African Biennale of Photography, and the director of international affair affairs of 13th edition.
Founder of Éditions Balani’s, Igo has published several books of tales, comic strips, novels, catalogues and art books including “Au coeur de Bamako/ In the heart of Bamako”; in 2017 and works of his were shown at Documenta 14 in Kassel and Athens. He further is the initiator of the Bamako International Youth Literature Festival “Kanla kadi” as well as the Summer University of Culture in Bamako, “Bamako Symposium Art”.
Igo Diarra was an audio-visual producer of music and shows with his label Balani’s Vibes Production, which produced Bamako’s first urban music, the National Museum’s Musical Thursdays and a Symposium on Bazoumana Sissoko, one of the greatest instrumentalists from Mali. Igo Diarra also created and edited the Cultural Entrepreneurship Game “Ciwara Game”.
Radio presenter and producer in his spare time he is an active member of several Associations and Networks, such as Arterial Network, and Founding Member of the Kya Network, of OMEL (Malian Organization of Publishers of Mali)
