Thank you to those of you who attended the first session of our new series entitled IBA Conversations on February 26th. It was fantastic to see so many members of the biennial come together to discuss the topic of the event, “Regional Dialogues and Alliances”.
There will be a workshop exclusively for members to continue the discussions that took place during our event to take place this March 12th. You may find more details about the workshop and information on registration below.

Up next, in March, we take a deeper look at a biennial currently underway in the second instalment of our two-part conversation with the curatorial team of the 13th Shanghai Biennale (Andrés Jaque, Filipa Ramos, Lucia Pietroiusti, Marina Otero, and You Mi). Curator Yuko Hasegawa also shares her thoughts on biennials in a time of transition. And we are at work on extended conversations with the artists Heba Y. Amin and Adam Khalil.

PASS is a program of the International Biennial Association that assembles readers from over 75 countries around the world. The editorial platform bears witness to the critical and experimental role of perennial art events such as biennials and triennials around the world. It presents diverse approaches and divergent perspectives on contemporary art biennials as institutions, curatorial endeavours, artistic opportunities, and public projects. It examines the contemporary art biennial as an active, critical, and evolving form that mobilises and sustains relationships between artists, sites, and audience on varied scales and in different contexts. PASS also aims to advance learning, debate, and advocacy while shaping the public profile of biennials.
