Dear members,
We hope this past month has treated you kindly. We thank you for your continued support.
As you may know, this month will see the introduction of a new IBA program which will be offering members an occasion to present their current or most recent biennial.
IBA Stage is an online event in which invited biennials will have the chance to deliver a presentation, without limitations of format, to give the freedom to find the most appropriate structure according to the nature of each project. The event will have a live audience of registered members and guests for a short Q&A session moderated by the IBA team taking place after the presentation and will separately be streamed through our social media outlets to allow a wider audience to experience it.
The inaugural event of this new series will have a presentation by Samantha Lackey, director of Liverpool Biennial, and Manuela Moscoso, curator of the 11th edition titled The Stomach and the Port. Together they will discuss the challenges of delivering a UK Biennial during COVID-19 and the shifting of the biennial’s conceptual framework alongside the experiences of the pandemic. While presenting the project realized earlier this year they will also reflect on questions such as: what were the priorities for delivery? How was the effort of the artists, curators and team manifested in such circumstances? How to deliver generative conversations across the biennial when physical gathering was impossible?
For more details about IBA Stage and our upcoming 8th General Assembly with links to register to either program, please scroll down to see our upcoming events.
You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
As we are also in the process of implementing some big changes to create a better experience for our members, we ask for your patience throughout the rest of the month as we make these adjustments.

ABOUT PASS
PASS is a program of the International Biennial Association that assembles a growing community of readers from over 135 countries. The editorial platform bears witness to the critical and experimental role of perennial art events such as biennials and triennials around the world. It presents diverse approaches and divergent perspectives on contemporary art biennials as institutions, curatorial endeavours, artistic opportunities, and public projects. It examines the contemporary art biennial as an active, critical, and evolving form that mobilises and sustains relationships between artists, sites, and audience on varied scales and in different contexts. PASS also aims to advance learning, debate, and advocacy while shaping the public profile of biennials.
Join us and inform the conversation on www.passjournal.org and engage with us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and email.
